The Gordon School, a vibrant and growing K-5 community day school in the heart of Miami, is looking for a dynamic and creative Jewish studies teacher to infuse our Judaics program and school community with formal and informal Jewish content, learning, and a love of Jewish life. The Gordon School is dedicated to helping children reach their highest potential through our nurturing, child-centered environment and program of academic excellence. We teach our children to cherish the wisdom and faith of Judaism and embrace its rich heritage.

The Judaics Director position will be a key player in this project to rethink, redesign, and implement a robust immersive educational experience for our students, families, and community. This position will work closely with the leadership team of CJLM to be a thought partner on immersive Jewish programming that is not only at the foundation of our school’s Judaics curriculum, but also mirrored in our community programming and experiences.

Holds a graduate certification/degree in Jewish education/clergy ordination
Pluralistically inclined and welcoming of diverse Jewish practices, perspectives, and backgrounds
Collaborative, empathetic, and compassionate Jewish educator and role-model
Self-driven, innovative, forward thinking, and ambitious experiential educator dedicated to imbuing the school and community with a love of Jewish wisdom, life, ritual, and holidays
Willingness and excitement to rethink and redesign Jewish educational experiences

Job Description:

Plan, organize, administer, and direct all activities, classroom learning, and experiential Jewish educational programming for students in kindergarten through Grade 5 as well as our Shabbat morning religious school program
Be responsible for infusing ruach and a love of Jewish life throughout the school serving as a resource and creating innovative cross-departmental programming
Oversee and supervise the Hebrew language teacher and curriculum

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

Create and oversee the development and implementation of a robust, exciting, and engaging curriculum for Judaic Studies, Hebrew, Tefilah, and Shabbat morning religious School
With guidance and support from The Senior Rabbi and the Director of the Gordon School, the Judaics Director will build, implement, and execute once-a-year ceremonies and Judaic Studies fairs for each grade level based on Jewish calendar events, milestones, and experiences working towards a unique Gordon School spiraling curriculum for all grades
Coordinate, lead, and oversee all Jewish holiday celebrations and immersive experiences throughout the year
Design student assessments to track progress in the Judaic Studies and Hebrew departments
Organize and implement Shabbat shows for each grade level
Work in close partnership with faculty to guide, evaluate, and improve upon the academic program to ensure that it meets the needs of all learners while integrating a meaningful Jewish lens when possible
Lead and support the Judaics/Hebrew faculty
Teaching Responsibilities:

Teach Judaic Studies, lead Tefillah, and teach in Shabbat morning religious school
Design, implement, and execute school-wide and school-specific Judaic programming
Promote a positive Jewish learning experience that engages and inspires the school community while serving as a resource to best help students and families navigate their Jewish journeys
Work directly with Shinshinim (Israeli shlichim) to plan both formal and informal educational programming throughout the year.

Job Type: This is a full-time position including Jewish holidays and Shabbat mornings.
